Future plans

When I first drafted this portfolio, I had just completed my doctorate and was at the start of my Postgraduate Certification in Academic Practice (PCAP). I’ve now completed this course, and started a brand new career – so my future plans have dramatically changed.

While I have just started my academic career as a Lecturer in Education Studies, my focus on the next step. This is because I am on a fixed-term two-year contract, so need to make the most of my time working with the School of Education. For this reason, investing in my development is a core part of my plans – and I see achieving my CMALT as an important element of this. I believe CMALT status will acknowledge a core set of my skills and will give me more options in my future career – such as moving into learning technology. I also plan to work on my Principle Fellowship with Advance HE, and believe this will also reflect the level of my practice while giving me additional career options in the future. While my first aim is to retain my post as a lecturer, I also want to be realistic and equip myself for whatever the best step may be.

Outside of work, I want to keep the focus on a good work-life balance. My husband and I adopted three beautiful children a couple of years ago, and they deserve an equal share of my time and attention.

Revisions for reassessment:
I have completely re-written this page to reflect the career change since my first submission.
